The final phase will modernize the intersection of Meetinghouse Road and Jenkintown Road and remove the spur road through Abington Friends School.
The project has been 10 years in the making, State Rep. Ben Sanchez said.

Sanchez said the project was the culmination of a decade of hard work and dedication by Abington Township and Jenkintown Borough and required a successful and lasting partnership with the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, PA Department of Transportation, and Abington Friends School.
"I am extremely proud of the hard-working individuals for completing these arduous first four phases of a five-phase project, which addressed everything from walkability between townships to much-needed stormwater management upgrades," said Sanchez, who was a township commissioner when the project first started.
Township officials said the project's goals achieved through these phases include increased sidewalk connectivity, improved transit stop accessibility, enhanced pedestrian and intersection safety, and additional stormwater facilities.
The improvements enhance access between Abington Township and Jenkintown Borough and benefit pedestrians, transit users, motorists, and the surrounding community.
