After-School Activities Canceled For Storm In Eastern Montco
A storm expected Monday afternoon may include high winds, downpours, and a potential tornado.
EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Several districts in eastern Montgomery County are cancelling after-school activities in the wake of Monday's storm.
Cheltenham Schools Superintendent Brian W. Scriven on Monday informed the school community that the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Montgomery County through 7 p.m. Monday.
"Out of an abundance of caution and prioritizing the safety of all our students and staff, the Cheltenham School District is canceling all after-school activities scheduled for Monday," the superintendent said.

He said that includes all sports practices, club meetings, and evening events on school property. Right at School will be closed, as well.
"We will continue to monitor the weather conditions closely and will provide further updates should the situation change or if there are any adjustments to Tuesday's school schedule. Please stay safe this evening," the superintendent said.

The Hatboro-Horsham School District said that due to the afternoon forecast for heavy winds, rain, and a potential tornado watch (later in the afternoon), all after-school and evening activities and athletics, including outside groups, are canceled for Monday.
The School District of Jenkintown is canceling all student activities after 4:30 pm. Monday, including athletics, play rehearsal, and our after-school care program. Buildings could temporarily pause dismissal if lightning is present in the area. The school board meeting, as scheduled, will be held at 7 p.m.
