Jenkintown Schools Superintendent Departs For Another Job
Jenkintown Schools Superintendent Jill Takacs has left to take an administrative job for a New Jersey school district.
JENKINTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Fresh off the heels of hiring a new superintendent, the former superintendent is no longer a part of the Jenkintown School District.
Last week, the School District of Jenkintown announced the hiring of Brea D'Angelo, an administrator in the Hatboro-Horsham School District, to replace the retiring Jill Takacs.
D'Angelo won't begin her tenure until July 13, with Interim Schools Superintendent Steven Van Mater continuing in the position until D'Angelo takes over.

Meanwhile, Takacs has left the school district, taking a job as the interim assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction of the South Brunswick (N.J.) School District.
In September, the school district announced that Takacs would retire at the end of her current term, which ends on Aug. 31.

Takacs had come under fire from some community members for her leadership of the school district.
Earlier that month, school officials announced that Takacs — the school district's superintendent since the fall of 2016 — was on temporary paid leave. No reason was given for the decision.
Before her tenure, Takacs was the assistant superintendent of the Middletown Township Public Schools in Middletown, N.J.
As an educator for 35 years, she has served as teacher, assistant principal, principal, curriculum director, assistant superintendent, and acting superintendent.
She has been recognized and awarded on the state and local levels for her educational contributions with these endeavors including the 2015 Governor’s Educational Services Professionals Award, and has been featured on the New Jersey Department of Education’s website promoting educational initiatives, according to the school district's website.
