Snow Emergency Declared In Cheltenham Township
The Philadelphia region is bracing for a major winter storm on Sunday into Monday.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The township has declared a snow emergency ahead of a major winter storm expected to hit the region on Sunday into Monday.
The snow emergency is in effect from 7 a.m. on Sunday to midnight on Monday.
Township officials said that trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day due to the storm.

Parked cars must be removed from Snow Emergency Routes during a Snow Emergency. Only vehicles with chains or snow/all-weather tires may travel on Snow Emergency Routes during this timeframe.

- Park in driveways whenever possible. Where not possible, all vehicles should be parked on the even-numbered side of the street. (This does not apply to streets already marked as one-side parking only.)
- Clear a 3' area around fire hydrants.
- Shovel your sidewalks and emergency ramps at 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 24" wide. This is key to emergency responses, such as moving stretchers to assist patients.
- Do not shovel snow into the street.

According to the National Weather Service, the areas under the warning will likely see between 10 and 16 inches of snow, though locally higher amounts are possible.
The storm system is expected to move northward from the Gulf Coast this weekend and will strengthen rapidly along the Atlantic Coast, according to AccuWeather, spreading accumulating snow from West Virginia through the mid-Atlantic and into southern New England from Saturday night through Monday.
Police said residents should call 911 for emergencies and 215-357-8900 for non-emergency situations.
According to the township's snow emergency declaration, Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Italia may declare a snow and/or ice emergency prohibiting any person to park a motor vehicle or to allow that vehicle to remain parked anywhere on any snow emergency route in the township.
