ICE Detains 2 After Main Line Vehicle Stop, Authorities Confirm

Lower Merion Police said they were unaware of Friday's incident involving the detainment of two men who were driving through the township.

PENN WYNNE, PA — Two men were taken into custody by ICE Friday in Lower Merion Township Friday, police said.

According to Lower Merion Police, ICE stopped a vehicle at about 10:30 a.m. Friday on Overbrook Parkway in Penn Wynne.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody by ICE, which then left the area, police said.

Lower Merion Police Superintendent Andrew Block said his department "was not advised of this vehicle investigation when it occurred."

"It is unknown why the occupants were taken into custody," he said. "Further it does not appear that the occupants have any contact within the township and were driving through the area at the time of the vehicle stop."

Block said police are investigating the incident.
