Main Line Stabbing Suspect Was Wanted For Armed Robbery From 2022: Police

LOWER MERION, PA — A man accused of stabbing another driver after a crash on the Main Line this weekend was wanted for an armed robbery four years ago at a Delaware county convenience store, authorities said.

Samuel Marquez rear-ended another vehicle Sunday while driving a U-Haul on the Blue Route (Interstate 476) in Lower Merion. He and several men then assaulted the other driver, leading Marquez to stab the victim in the abdomen, according to State Police.

An ambulance took the victim to Lankenau Medical Center. Police did not share their condition.

Marquez and the other suspects fled the scene before police found the U-Haul at a Sunoco on Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr. He ran away before officers arrested him at the nearby Austin Memorial Park, police said.

Villanova University was put under lockdown as the incident unfolded, according to The Villanovan.

Marquez, 40, of Philadelphia, was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, weapons counts, evading arrest and other offenses. He was held on $1 million bail, with a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 15.

No one else has been charged in this incident as of Wednesday morning.

Marquez was also wanted for armed robbery. In November 2022, he robbed the Royal Farms convenience store on Market Street in Upper Chichester, police said.

He was charged on a warrant in March 2023, after Upper Chichester Police identified him as the suspect.

Marquez doesn't have an attorney listed in online court records who can comment on his behalf.
