Man Killed, 2 Injured After Car Goes Airborne In Bensalem Crash

Bensalem Police said the man was driving at a high rate of speed before crashing into several cars on Bristol Road on Tuesday afternoon.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — One person was killed and two injured in a multi-car crash Tuesday afternoon in Bensalem after a car went airborne near the intersection of Bristol Road and Chestnut Avenue.

Bensalem Township police said the crash happened at 4:48 p.m. Responding officers found the driver dead after being partially ejected from a Toyota RAV4 that had overturned during the crash.

Authorities said the driver had been involved in a domestic-related incident in Lower Southampton Township before the crash.

Police said he fled eastbound on Bristol Road at a high rate of speed.

The car crossed into oncoming traffic while attempting to pass another vehicle and struck a Hyundai Kona, police said.

The Toyota then became airborne, struck a Honda SUV and a Ford pickup truck, and ultimately rolled over.Following the initial impact, the Hyundai Kona left the roadway and came to rest after striking a fence on Bristol Road.

Two people were injured but the extent of their injuries were unknown at this time.

The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.

At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
