Canadian Woman Swiped $43K Of Gold, Silver In Bensalem: PD

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A 25-year-old woman from Canada is in custody for stealing a package that contained $43,000 in gold and silver, police said.

Bensalem Police arrested Kaileigh Hogan, 25, of Ontario, Canada, in connection with the theft of gold and silver valued at $43,549.

Hogan was was charged with Forgery, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Theft by Deception.

Bail was set at 10 percent of $1 million, and Hogan was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

On May 11, police responded to a report of a stolen FedEx package. The victim reported that while awaiting delivery of a package containing gold and silver, a family member saw Hogan, who claim to be the owner, sign for the package, and leave the area.

Police used intersection cameras, license plate readers, and other surveillance footage to find a Nissan sedan involved in the theft.

The vehicle was found to be rented by Hogan from Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Philadelphia International Airport, police said.

After the alleged theft, Hogan returned to the airport and flew to Arizona that same day, police said.

Because she was on a visa, police contacted U.S. Customs and Border Protection to advise the agency of the outstanding warrant.

On Sunday, Hogan was taken into custody on the warrant while attempting to cross into Canada at Lewiston, N.Y., police said.
