Motorcyclist Killed In Brookline Collision

BROOKLINE, PA — A man died on Sunday after the motorcycle he was driving collided with an SUV in the city's Brookline section.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the 500 block of Brookline Boulevard.

Arriving responders found a man in the roadway who had "sustained significant injuries," He was taken in grave condition to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man as Michael Rooney, 35.

The initial investigation indicates that the SUV was attempting to make a left-hand turn out of a business driveway when the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and was cooperative with officers, public safety officials said.

While the incident still remains under investigation, no charges are expected at this time.
