Central Bucks Hires New Chief Financial Officer
Wayne Gehris brings more than 25 years of experience leading public-sector financial operations to the Central Bucks School District.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks School District has a new chief financial officer at the helm.
In a unanimous vote, the school board on Thursday hired Wayne Gehris to manage the district's finances.
Gehris comes to Central Bucks from the Reading School District where he has served as chief financial officer since 2014. Gehris brings more than 25 years of experience leading public-sector financial operations to CB.

As Reading's CFO, Gehris oversaw a $482 million operating budget for the 18,000-student school district and directed the planning, financing, and oversight of a $310 million districtwide capital improvement program, the largest construction initiative in Reading’s history.
He also increased Reading’s fund balance from $6 million to $100 million between 2013 and 2026 and developed five-year forecasting models that were used for negotiations, long-range planning, and district feasibility studies.

In addition to overseeing Reading's financial operations, Gehris led a department that was responsible for finance, payroll, purchasing, transportation, tax collection, accounts payable and receivable, pupil accounting, and other operational services. He played a key role in labor negotiations, benefit cost management, and debt restructuring efforts that generated approximately $20 million in savings.
Before joining Reading, Gehris spent more than 15 years in public accounting and financial consulting, serving clients in government, nonprofit, financial services, and private-sector industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting and business administration–finance from Albright College and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in school business leadership at Wilkes University. He is a Pennsylvania Certified School Business Administrator and is actively involved in state and national school business organizations.
His leadership and accomplishments have earned numerous professional recognitions, including being named Best Turnaround Specialist in the CFO of the Year Awards by the Lehigh Valley Business Journal.
Gehris will begin serving as CBSD's chief financial officer on July 1. He takes over for interim CFO David Maytas, who has served the district since former CFO Tara Houser moved on to the North Penn School District in May 2025.
Other Appointments
In other administrative appointments, the board introduced Kelley Peloquin as CB West's new House Principal, joining the administrative team from a previous teaching position.
The board also introduced Jessica Silverstein as Holicong Middle School's new assistant principal, joining the administrative team from her previous position as dean.
