Couple With A Taste For The Bubbly Face Theft Charges In Warrington

Township police have charged two New Jersey residents with retail theft stemming from an incident on New Year's Eve.

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A New Jersey couple looking to toast the New Year with champagne is facing theft charges stemming from an incident on Dec. 31 in the township.

Warrington police have filed charges against a 24-year-old woman from Beverly, New Jersey, and a 25-year-old man from Clifton Heights, New Jersey, in connection with a retail theft reported at Wegmans involving a bottle of high-end Cristal Brut Champagne and other merchandise.

Warrington Police responded to Wegmans on Jan. 16 for the report of a retail theft that occurred on December 31.

Upon arrival, store officials told police that a man and a woman had selected a bottle of Cristal Brut Champagne valued at $439.99, which is stored in a secure area.

Police said the ,pair then selected additional merchandise throughout the store before exiting without paying. The total value of the stolen items was $559.43.

An investigation identified the suspects and a criminal complaint was filed in District Court. They are charged with retail theft and receiving stolen merchandise.
