CNN Anchor From Delco To Leave The News Network

Rahel Solomon, a CNN anchor who was raised in Delaware County, announced on her show Monday that she's leaving the cable news network.

She made the announcement on "Early Start with Rahel Solomon," an early-morning news program on CNN.

"Now, to some personal news, I have decided that this will be my last week at CNN," Solomon said. Details on her next steps will come later, she says.

Born in Sudan, Solomon moved to the U.S. with her parents at age 3 and first settled in West Philadelphia. They later moved to the Upper Darby area of Delco, where Solomon was raised. She graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School in Upper Darby's Drexel Hill neighborhood.

After college and graduate school, Solomon took on reporting jobs at networks in Charleston, West Virginia, and then in Denver. She worked for several years as a morning anchor for KYW-TV in Philadelphia before becoming a CNBC reporter.

In 2022, Solomon joined CNN. Her program, "Early Start," has aired since March 2025.

Solomon will host the program this week, with Friday being her last show.

She thanked her colleagues at "Early Start" and CNN while announcing her departure.

"I'm going to be cheering you on," Solomon said. "I look forward to watching. It has been such an honor, truly, to serve as a business correspondent for CNN. I have covered everything from inflation to the job market and everything in between. It has been an honor. It has been a privilege."

A CNN spokesperson said, "We are grateful to Rahel for all her contributions to CNN over the past four years and are supportive of her decision. We wish her all the best in her next chapter."
