Hatboro Appoints New Borough Councilman
Treasurer Tom Smith was sworn in on Monday to join the seven-member Hatboro Borough Council.

HATBORO, PA — The borough's treasurer is now its latest council member.
Tom Smith was sworn in on Monday night to replace Councilman Don Hoover, the latest change on the seven-member board.
Just over a month since longtime Councilman George Bollendorf resigned, Hoover resigned in late April.

Hoover joined the council in September 2024, replacing Todd A'Harrah, who had stepped down. Hoover won re-election to council last November.
Smith has served as borough treasurer since November 2021.

With Smith's appointment, the borough will now seek a new treasurer.
Smith has lived in Hatboro for the past eight years and has served on numerous borough boards.
He has served on the Union Library Board, the Historic Commission, the Planning Commission, the Friends of Cressbrook, and the Zoning Sub Committee where he served an integral role in developing draft regulations for the ongoing Zoning Rewrite.
In a borough profile in 2022, Smith said that "he loves being connected to the community and helping drive the borough into the future with positive leadership.
Smith has worked as an accountant for over 40 years.
Smith has also been involved with the Hatboro Little League, where he served as Registrar, League Information Officer, and Volunteer Coordinator.
"Councilman Smith loves working for and with the residents of Hatboro, and with his strong background in finance, knowledge of planning/zoning principles and Hatboro's history, Tom looks forward to helping make Hatboro a vibrant destination and the "crown jewel" of Montgomery County," officials said.
In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time with his partner, Sue, and her two cats as well as attending Hatboro's many events.
