Memorial Day Flag Festivities Planned At Whitemarsh Park

The 66th Annual Avenue of the Flags at Whitemarsh Memorial Park will take place this Memorial Day weekend.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The 66th Annual Avenue of the Flags at Whitemarsh Memorial Park will take place this Memorial Day weekend.

Township officials are inviting the public to attend the ceremony for a weekend of honor at the memorial park off Horsham and Limekiln roads.

The ceremonies will be weather-dependent. Residents are encouraged to bring their own chairs for Monday's event at the tower in the cemetery.

Over 400 veterans' flags are displayed and flown through the Memorial Park over the three-day holiday weekend.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, volunteers will be here to help place over 2,000 cemetery flags in the cemetery's veterans sections.

On Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Wayside Chapel will hold an open house.

On Monday, there are several events planned:

  • 9-11 a.m. — Thom Moore - The Happy Bagpiper will play in the Veterans Memorial Gardens Section.
  • 11 a.m. to Noon — The Hickory Brass Band under the direction of Bob Wagner will perform at the Tower Mausoleum.
  • 11:30 a.m. — Indian Valley HOG Annual Memorial Ride starting at Limekiln Pike Entrance.
  • Noon to 1 p.m. — Event at our Tower of Chimes
    Hear from our staff, Guest Speaker Deborah Casello from KEYS 365, & 4th Grade Essay Contest Winner to be announced from Worcester Elementary School.
  • 1-3 p.m. —Rita's Water Ice of Limekiln Pike and refreshments at the Main Office.
