1 Dead After Barricade Incident In Montgomery Co.

Nearby homes were evacuated as SWAT teams covered the area.

LOWER SALFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — One person is dead after a barricade incident in Montgomery County Tuesday led to local evacuations.

The incident began at around 11:15 a.m. on the 200 block of Danielle Drive in Lower Salford.

Police were attempting to serve a failure to appear in court arrest warrant to a man later identified as 62-year-old Raymond Cleary.

Cleary had been out on $1,000 bail on DUI and related charges, court documents show.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies saw Cleary inside the home, but he did not respond to the door when they knocked, officials said.

Officers then heart a gunshot coming from the home and took cover. Nearby oomes were evacuated and the Central Montgomery County SWAT team joined deputies and local police on the scene.

Repeated efforts to contact Cleary were unsuccessful, police said.

Law enforcement then breached the home and found Cleary already dead in a room upstairs, according to authorities.

The manner of his death was not released by police, and the incident remains under investigation.
