How To Help Victims Of Tragic Lansdale Fire That Left 1 Dead, Many Homeless

LANSDALE, PA — Police in Lansdale are collecting donations from the public for the victims of the fire last week that left one person dead and several families without a home.

Authorities said they had received overwhelming interest from the public in how to help those affected.

"At this time, the most helpful way to support these families is through gift card donations," police said.

Gift cards to major retailers like Walmart, Target, Kohl's, CVS, and Walgreens are all needed. To donate, drop gift cards off at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1000 West Main Street, in an envelope marked "Andover Road Fire Donation."

"On behalf of the families affected, thank you for your generosity, kindness, and continued support. Your willingness to help your neighbors during this difficult time is a true reflection of the strength of the Lansdale community," police added.

The fire marshal is continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze, which occurred last Friday, July 31 on the 800 block of Andover Road.

Officers first arriving found heavy fire coming from two attached homes, with reports of victims trapped inside. All escaped save for one, authorities said.

Crews were able to bring the blaze under control by 7:44 a.m. Significant damage was caused to at least four homes. The displaced families are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The victim's identity has not yet been confirmed.
