Bucks Co. Congressman Weds Fox News Reporter In 'Timeless' Ceremony

Brian Fitzpatrick married Jacqui Heinrich at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City in a ceremony People magazine called "timeless."

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County's Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick did something his father did 75 years ago.

The Republican representative put on a white jacket over the weekend and married his best friend just like his father did and married Mary Margaret Williams.

The 52-year-old congressman shared some details about his weekend wedding to 37-year-old Fox News Senior White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich.

"This was a tribute to the first love story I ever knew," said Fitxpatrick, who posed on Saturday with his parents next to him and also posted photos of their wedding day.

"My parents’ life together is one of those great American stories — built quietly, faithfully, and day by day by a U.S. Army soldier and a secretary who believed in faith, family, hard work, service, and each other."

The New York City wedding date was important to the couple.

"New York is significant to both of our lives — it was Jacqui's first assignment as a network news reporter and Brian's first assignment as an FBI agent," the couple told PEOPLE exclusively. "Brian's parents are both from New York, where their own parents settled after immigrating from Ireland via Ellis Island."

People magazine said the bride wore a corseted mermaid gown from Galia Lahav during the ceremony. She said she loved the dress' "dramatic, Old-Hollywood feel," which complemented the "classic Americana vibe" the couple envisioned for their wedding.

The wedding focused on family tradition. Fitzpatrick said he hoped to have as wonderful a marriage as his parents.

"Together, they showed us that love is not simply the promise made at the altar," Fitzpatrick said. "It is the promise kept after it. Kept in a marriage, through children and grandchildren, through joy and hardship, through faith, service, and sacrifice. That is the American Dream they built, and protected. Their marriage is not only something to celebrate. It is something to behold."
