Micro-Hospital Plans At Oxford Valley Mall Revived: Report

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Capital Health is reviving plans for a micro-hospital next to the Oxford Valley Mall, according to a report.

The $60 million micro-hospital will be the first in Bucks County and fourth in the Philadelphia region, The Philadelphia Business Journal reported.

As part of its ongoing expansion into Bucks County, Capital Health in 2019 completed the purchase of a property at 280 Middletown Boulevard in Langhorne.

Formerly operating as Barix Clinics of Pennsylvania, the facility will be renamed Capital Heath – Oxford Valley and is expected to offer inpatient and outpatient services.

It is currently licensed as a hospital by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Capital Health said at the time of the acquisition.

“Capital Heath – Oxford Valley is a major step forward for our organization and the region as a whole,” said Al Maghazehe, president and CEO of Capital Health said then.

The building is located adjacent to the Oxford Valley Mall and minutes away from Capital Health Primary Care – Langhorne.

The facility is currently equipped with four operating rooms and inpatient beds for patient care, but Capital Health will make renovations and improvements based on the determination of services that will be offered at their new Oxford Valley location.

Capital Health was working with the Pennsylvania Department of Health throughout the transition and planned to open in several months in 2019, but plans stalled until the proposal was revived again, the Journal reported.

Micro‑hospitals are part of a broader trend to bring core hospital services — including urgent care and limited inpatient stays — into smaller, more accessible facilities, often in retail or mixed‑use areas.

In 2019, Capital Heath was expanding in Bucks County, opening primary care offices in Washington Crossing, Newtown and Langhorne and planning to open a new primary care office in Levittown in the future.
