Neshaminy Addresses Drones Over School Grounds

LANGHORNE, PA — With Neshaminy High School football season underway under the bright Friday night lights, school officials have raised a concern about a crime.

School officials are alerting the school community about drones.

School officials said that flying drones over school district property at any time requires permission from district administration.

Permission from the FAA might also be required to operate in the area since portions of the school district are within the airspace of Northeast Philadelphia Airport and the helicopter landing pad at St. Mary's Hospital, officials said.

School officials also said that the PIAA prohibits flying drones directly over playing fields or spectator areas during interscholastic games.

While it posted the concern, the school district did not state whether a drone incident took place during a football game recently.
