Route 1 Design Changes To Keep Service Roads

PennDOT has updated plans for Phase III of the Route 1 traffic improvements project in Lower Bucks County.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — PennDOT has updated plans for Phase III of its Route 1 traffic improvements project, with several key changes.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation encourages the public to view recent updates to the project website for the upcoming U.S. 1 Section RC3 Project.

The project calls for improvements to improve safety and congestion along a 2.7-mile section of Route 1 in Middletown Township and Langhorne Manor and Langhorne boroughs.

After receiving comments from residents in the area, PennDOT has made design changes that include keeping most of the existing service roads from Route 1 1 for traffic circulation and improvements to access for Neshaminy High School along Old Lincoln Highway.

The project website has been updated with recent project design changes, new plan view color graphics, and an updated roadway typical section to reflect the project design changes.

The Environmental webpage for the U.S. 1 Section RC3 project has also been updated to provide a similar background for the design changes along with an update to the current project schedule as PennDOT continues to work through the Environmental Assessment process.

PennDOT anticipates an environmental decision in the fall of 2026 at which time the results of the National Environmental Policy Act decision will be posted to the project website along with an updated Environmental Assessment document reflecting the project design changes including updates to relevant project technical files.
