Montco Bridge Shut Down Due To Erosion Reopens
"Severe scour" was discovered during a recent inspection on the bridge, which was built in 1930.
SKIPPACK TOWNSHIP, PA — A Montgomery County bridge that was shut down due to severe scour in April has been reopened after repairs, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
The bridge carrying Evansburg Road over Shady Brook Run in Skippack Township officially opened on May 8.
Severe bridge scour, caused when the soil and rock by the foundation of the bridge is eroded away, was discovered during a recent inspection.

Evansburg Road is now reopened. It had had been shut down between Hidden Forest Drive and Ivy Lane.
The single span, 15-foot-long arch deck bridge was built in 1930 and reconstructed in 1971. It carries about 3,247 vehicles per day, PennDOT says.
