MARPLE, PA — Fourth of July activities in Marple and Newtown could have extra sparkle in 2026 for the 250th anniversary, or semiquincentennial, of the Declaration of Independence.

The holiday falls on a Saturday in the middle of a three-day weekend, July 3-5. To help you fit it all in on your Fourth of July calendar, Patch has put together a guide to fireworks and other celebrations in the area.

But eventgoers should be mindful of the heat. The region is facing what could be its hottest stretch in more than 10 years, according to the National Weather Service's Philadelphia/Mount Holly Office.

Heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees are expected during each day through July 4, possibly reaching 115 at times. The NWS recommends forgoing outdoor activities and staying inside with air conditioning. But if you do go out, be sure to drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight or loose-fitting clothing, and try to limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening.

Before heading to an event, make sure to check the forecast and event pages, as the extreme heat may lead to events being cancelled, postponed or modified.
