DARBY, PA — A SEPTA train struck and killed a person Friday morning in Darby, authorities said.The Wilmington/Newark Line train hit the person at around 7 a.m. on the tracks just north of Darby Station. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.An investigation is underway, but no foul play is suspected at this time, said SEPTA spokesperson Joe Leonard.The Wilmington/Newark Line is part of SEPTA's Regional Rail system. It extends from Delaware to Philadelphia, with stops in Delaware County.The line was suspended, but service was restored later in the morning.

Close to 150 Veterans (WWII (yes, we have WWII vets), Korean and Vietnam) will travel to Washington, D.C., with Honor Flight Philadelphia on Saturday, September 19, 2026, for a special Day of Honor — and when they return, the community will have the opportunity to give some something many never received more than 50 years ago: A true Welcome Home. “We cannot change the way many of our Vietnam Veterans were treated when they came home more than 50 years ago, but together we can make sure they know today how much they are loved, respected and appreciated,” organizers said. AND remind the older veteran generation that we still admire their sacrifice and commitment which was over 60 70 years ago! 
Honor Flight Philadelphia hopes hundreds of people will be waiting with American flags, cheers, handshakes and hugs. The public is invited to arrive beginning at 4:30 PM for food, music, games, face painting and family activities before gathering to welcome the veterans home. Miss Teen Pennsylvania Anna Rinnier will be in attendance along with horses from Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines.
Honor Flight Philadelphia is especially encouraging families, children, veterans, first responders, motorcycle riders, Scouts and community organizations to attend. Bring an American flag. Bring your children.
Shake a veteran’s hand. Give them a hug. Most importantly, help us finally say the words they deserved to hear decades ago: WELCOME HOME.

Saint Albans Circle

The Newtown Square Business Association, in partnership with Newtown Township and local business sponsors, is pleased to host the 4th annual Circle at Sundown, happening on Sunday, September 27th, from 3:00–7:00pm. The circle will be closed to traffic, and the event is free to attend, with food and beverages available for purchase. In addition, contributions of non-perishable food items, canned goods and full-sized toiletries will be collected for Kids Against Hunger United.&nbsp;
This year, the Circle at Sundown will feature an expanded beer garden by Troubles End Brewery, local food trucks, area restaurant menu items and lots of sweet treats. Luigi &amp; Giovanni’s will serve their delicious, authentic Italian fare and provide al-fresco dining for their patrons. Food trucks will offer a variety of family-friendly options such as classic American, barbecue, Asian and Mexican fare and we’ll enjoy desserts from the circle’s newest member, Sweet Spot Gelato &amp; Candy Shop.&nbsp;
There will be two featured live performances this year. Joining us for the first time will be singer and songwriter Brian Joslin, who can be seen performing around Delaware County and the Jersey Shore. Returning this year by popular demand is Faraway Guys, a local band that is a favorite at local brewpubs and other area venues in PA and NJ.&nbsp;
There will be plenty of children’s activities, lawn games, interactive chalk art displays, character appearances and face painting. Our local businesses in the area will also be well-represented at the event. Participating stores in the circle will be open for shopping as well.&nbsp;
As in previous years, the Circle at Sundown is dedicated to promoting sustainability and minimizing its impact on the environment. Local civic groups who are working hard to make Newtown Square and its surrounding communities more liveable will be on hand to share information and answer questions. The committee is also taking several steps to make the event as eco-friendly as possible by encouraging the use of compostable serving materials and reusing repurposed materials in the festival design.&nbsp;
Attendees are encouraged to join in the celebration of a more sustainable future! The fun kicks off at 3pm. Please note that there will be some seating available, but guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, especially if they plan to stay for the duration of the festivities. Alderfer Auction is expanding its local presence with the opening of a new satellite sales office in Wayne, PA, starting Wednesday, October 7th.
Located at 303 West Lancaster Ave, Suite 2C (above The UPS Store), the office will be open weekly on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Appointments are preferred, though walk-ins are welcome with a limit of two items. For larger collections, please arrange a dedicated in-home consultation. To schedule an appointment, email preview@alderferauction.com or call 215-393-3000.
The Wayne office will be led by Allyson Babcock, an accredited member of the Appraisers Association of America with over 15 years of experience in the auction and appraising industry. A resident of the Main Line community with a background rooted in her family's decades-long antique business and a degree from Brown University, Allyson specializes in American Furniture, Fine Art, and decorative arts, providing USPAP-compliant appraisals for estate tax, insurance, and equitable distribution.
The new location invites the local community to bring in a wide variety of items for evaluation and consignment, including:
