SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — Solebury Township will be holding the first in a series of Attainable Housing Forums on Thursday, April 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Solebury Township Municipal Building, 3092 Sugan Road.

The first Housing Forum will be an informal gathering that will include a discussion with community members who would be served by attainable housing and a panel discussion with members of the attainable housing industry. The discussions will be followed by public insights and comments, and a brief discussion of future Housing Forum topics.

“The whole motivation and purpose of the housing forum is to have a discussion with the community,” said Supervisor Kevin Morrissey. “There are no plans hidden somewhere. We want to have a discussion with the community as to what their feeling is in terms of attainable housing. It’s a very big topic with quite a few variables. We’ve done some research, but that’s all we have done. There are no plans. There’s nothing but we want to have feedback from the community.”

Some of the questions expected to be addressed include: What is Attainable Housing? Who would be served by Attainable Housing (essential workers, starter families, farmer workers, recent college graduates, senior citizens, empty nesters)? What does Attainable Housing look like? What would be a reasonable outcome by 2030 and 2040? And where might Attainable Housing be located?”

The public can watch the Solebury Township Housing Forum virtually on Zoom, but there will be no public comment. The forum will be recorded and posted to the township’s website to allow the public who cannot participate to review the forum at a later time.
