Tabby’s Place Opens Perry’s Pantry for Neighbors in Need

When you have 150 cats, life is a full bowl of love. Tabby’s Place: a Cat Sanctuary is letting that love overflow to our community with the opening of Perry’s Pantry.

Since 2003, the Ringoes, NJ shelter has been a haven for cats from hopeless situations. Nearly 5,000 cats have flourished in the cage-free sanctuary, coming from as near as Ringoes and as far as Beirut to find new life.

While Tabby’s Place can shelter 150 cats, they have yearned to help nourish and nurture many pets beyond its doors.

That vision comes to life with Perry’s Pantry. Now open to the public, the pet food pantry makes food, kitty litter, carriers, cat furniture, and other pet essentials freely available to neighbors in need.

There is no application required to access the pantry, and community members are welcome to visit from 12pm – 4pm daily. Depending on donations, resources may also include medical supplies (but not medication) and food for dogs and other animals.

Named for Tabby’s Place alum Perry, the pantry honors a local beacon of compassion. Perry’s Pantry was created in memory of Perry’s adoptive mom, Kavita Gupta, a beloved Tabby’s Place volunteer who passed away in 2025. As Perry’s Pantry helps neighbors provide for their pets, it will carry forth Kavita’s legacy of selfless kindness.

Since 2003, Tabby’s Place has been a world class, cage-free sanctuary for cats from hopeless situations.

Tabby’s Place embraces the neediest cats regardless of age, medical issues, or temperament, making it a harbor of hope for the most desperate, with a particular focus on Special Needs cats. At any given time, 30-40% of Tabby’s Place’s 100 residents have chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and paraplegia. Up to 5% of Tabby’s Place cats come from overseas (such as Lebanon and Oman). Nearly all Tabby’s Place cats are available for adoption to loving homes.

The sanctuary is a uniquely nurturing environment, providing the tenderness, patience and personalized care cats need to trust people, whatever their past. The physical facility supports this level of care, having been designed from the ground up to meet cats’ needs and delight their senses with bright, open suites; continuous fresh air; and safe access to outdoor solaria.
