Council Rock, MBIT Awarded School Safety, Mental Health Grants

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School District and the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology have been awarded more than $600,000 in school safety and mental health grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's School Safety and Security Committee.

State Rep. Joe Hogan, who represents a portion of Northampton Township, announced the funding, which includes $527,180 for Council Rock and $70,000 for the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology.

School safety and mental health grants are open to public school entities, including school districts, career and technical schools/centers, intermediate units, and charter schools. Funds advance the school safety and security committee’s goal of ensuring that all Pennsylvania students can learn in safe, healthy school environments by helping school entities address basic safety and mental health needs.

“Our students should always feel safe and secure wherever they attend school,” said Hogan. “These grants help both our area school districts and technical schools provide programs to support their students’ mental health and fund safety upgrades at their facilities across the district.”
