DUI Charges Pending Against Dump Truck Driver: Newtown Township Police Report

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between July 2 and 8:

July 2

At 12 p.m., police responded to a business in Newtown Township for the report of a customer attempting to use multiple fake IDs to make a purchase. The employee confiscated the IDs, and the customer left before police arrived. Police secured the IDs as evidence.

At 7 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a dump truck driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Swamp Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

At 2:45 p.m., police were called to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a dispute. As a result of the investigation, a man was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and harassment.

July 4

At 3:45 p.m., police were called to a Wrightstown home for the report of an attempted vehicle theft. The investigation is ongoing.

July 8

At 6:15 p.m., a Newtown Township business owner responded to headquarters to report a theft from his business. The incident was referred to the detective division for further investigation.
