Man Charged With Robbery, Woman Reports Sexual Assault: Newtown Twp. Police

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between September 4 and 10:

September 4

At 10:29 a.m., police were notified of a hit-and-run accident that occurred at the intersection of the Newtown Bypass and Newtown-Yardley Road. A black Mercedes-Benz was identified as the vehicle that left the scene of the accident. Police were able to identify the driver and spoke with her at her home. While officers were speaking with the driver, tthey detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing. Charges are pending.

September 5

At 8:09 p.m., police were called to the area of Gablewing Circle for the report of a suspicious man. The man was seen the previous night, and it was suspected that he was trying to gain access to a vacant apartment. Upon speaking with the man, he was identified and had a warrant out of Lower Makefield Township, as well as Bucks County Court. The man was taken into custody and transferred to Lower Makefield Township.

September 6

At 10:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a dark colored Dodge pickup truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Richboro Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

At 10:07 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township business for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, a man was arrested and charged with robbery, simple assault, harassment, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

September 7

At 9:33 a.m., police responded to Acme Markets for the report of a retail theft where two juveniles stole approximately $40 worth of alcohol. The incident is under investigation.

September 8

At 9 a.m., Newtown Township Police, along with members of the Bucks County Detectives, Bensalem Township Police, Buckingham Township Police, and Lower Makefield Township Police, executed a search warrant at a home on Richboro Road, which led to the arrest of an offender. The search warrant was the result of a months-long investigation into internet crimes against children.

At 2:40 p.m., police were called to Augusta Drive to meet with a representative of Toll Brothers, who reported the theft of plywood from one of the properties being built.

At 4:30 p.m., police were called to Council Rock High School – North for the report of vandalism to a shed near the practice football field.

September 9

At 11:56 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a red GMC pickup truck in the area of Durham Road and Second Street Pike for vehicle code violations. Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined that the Falls Township Police Department held an active arrest warrant for the driver. The driver was taken into custody, and during a search, suspected narcotics were found. The driver was processed and turned over to Falls Township Police. Charges are pending lab results of the suspected narcotics.

September 10

At approximately 3 p.m., police spoke with a victim who reported a sexual assault that occurred while utilizing a ride-share program on their way to work. The incident is currently under investigation.

At 7:13 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a gray Hyundai for committing motor vehicle code violations. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
