NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Sons of the American Legion, which is helping to organize this year's Memorial Day Parade in Newtown, is looking for groups and organizations interested in participating in the parade.

The parade is scheduled to step off at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, May 25 after honors are rendered at the Newtown Cemetery. The parade will then march through town, pausing at the War Memorial at the Newtown Library Company and at the Newtown Borough Hall before concluding at the American Legion Post on Linden Avenue.

Parade organizers are also in need of convertibles to transport veterans and parade officials along the parade route. They are also looking for volunteers to help with other aspects of the parade.

"This is the most solemn day of the year. It is important that we honor those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and we need the community's help to make that happen," said Sons of the American Legion member Paul Salvatore.

Parade participants, volunteers, and convertible owners are asked to reach out to Paul Salvatore for more information. He can be reached via email at salvatorepaul@hotmail.com
