Thefts, DUI Arrests, Fraudulent Activity: Newtown Township Police Report

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests involving credit card fraud, retail thefts and DUI.

August 9

At 12:45 a.m., police responded to an accident at the Newtown Bypass and Durham Road. Upon speaking with the driver of one of the vehicles, the investigating officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

August 10

At 9:21 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Ford Expedition for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

August 14

At 3:29 p.m., a Newtown Township resident stopped at police headquarters to report credit card fraud. The victim told police that there had been fraudulent activity on her debit card, for a total loss of approximately $305. Upon further investigation, a suspect was identified, and police currently hold an arrest warrant.

August 19

At 5:26 p.m., police were called to the Extra Space Storage Facility for the report of a theft from a storage unit. The investigation is ongoing.

August 20

.At 5:30 pm, police were called to Ulta Beauty for the report of two retail thefts that had occurred earlier in the day. The first theft occurred around 10:17 a.m. and resulted in a loss of $717 wo.r.th of merchandise; while the second theft occurred at 3:19 pm and resulted in a loss of $1,040 worth of merchandise. Both incidents are currently under investigation.
