3 Found Dead In Northampton Twp Home After Hours-Long Standoff

An active death investigation is underway at a home in the Churchville section of Northampton Township.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Three people were found dead on Monday inside a home in the Churchville section of the township, authorities said.

The discovery was made following an hours-long standoff with police that began in the early afternoon and lasted into the evening. Northampton Township Police said when they arrived at the home on Heather Road just after 2 p.m., they were confronted by a man armed with a knife. The initial call was for a well-being check.

The man has later taken into custody and launched a death investigation with county detectives, officials said.

The incident prompted a heavy police response by law enforcement, including the South Central Emergency Response Team (SERT), a specialized, multi-jurisdictional SWAT unit from southern and central Bucks County.

The man was eventually taken into custody by the SERT team following what the District Attorney's office called a "fluid situation."

Investigators have not released the names of the three people found dead on Monday or the name of the man in custody. They have also not released any details of the events leading up to the deaths, except to say that it was an "isolated incident" and that the public was not in any danger.

The Northampton Township Police Department and the Bucks County Detectives have launched a joint death investigation into the incident, which has shaken the quiet residential neighborhood.

“Our hearts go out to the Churchville community this evening,” posted the District Attorney’s office. “The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is working closely with the Northampton Township Police Department. More information will be released as it becomes available.”
