7-Week-Old Girl Hospitalized After Severe Abuse, Parents Arrested: Police

Parents were taken into custody after the baby was removed from a hospital without medical clearance, according to reports.

PHILADELPHIA — A seven-week-old girl is hospitalized after suffering severe physical abuse, according to Philadelphia police.

The investigation began Friday after the baby was taken by her parents to Jefferson Hospital, where doctors recommended she be transferred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to NBC Philadelphia 10. Her father later removed her from CHOP without a medical release, prompting medical professionals to contact police and investigators to search for the family.

Police located the parents at a home in Northwest Philadelphia around 3 p.m. Saturday and took them into custody, while the baby was returned to CHOP for treatment, according to NBC.
