Infant Found Dead At Philadelphia Apartment; Investigation Underway: Police

The infant may have suffered puncture wounds, police said.

PHILADELPHIA — An investigation is underway after an infant was found dead Saturday at an apartment in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties neighborhood, police said.

Police were dispatched around 12:50 p.m. to the apartment on the 1100 block of North American Street, where an infant girl was unresponsive.

Medics pronounced her dead at 1:08 p.m.

Preliminary investigation suggests the infant may have suffered puncture wounds, police said. The Medical Examiner's Office will determine her official cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
