2 Olympic Gold Medalists Coming To Phoenixville
More than 100 youth swimmers will get a special treat.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A pair of Olympic gold medalist swimmers will come to the Phoenixville YMCA this weekend as part of a special camp for children.
Bobby Finke, who won gold in 2020 in the 800 meter and 1500 meter freestyle, and Nick Thoman, who won gold in 2012 in the 4x100 meter medley relay, will lead the session.
Some 100 swimmers, aged 9 and up, are expected at the event.

The two day camp will focus on the freestyle on Saturday and the backstroke on Sunday. Haverford native and Phoenixville Y Club team swimmer Anya Mostek will help lead the sessions.
“It’s not every day that young swimmers get to stand on the pool deck and learn from Olympic champions, and that kind of access can change how a kid sees the sport and themselves,” Aimee Smith, Executive Director of Programs and Aquatics at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA, shared in a statement. “What makes this weekend even more special is that one of these Olympians is one of our own. Anya came up through the Phoenixville YMCA swim team, and having her back to coach the next generation shows every swimmer here just how far they can go.”
