The Fourth Wednesday Readers, Phoenixville Public Library’s on-site book discussion group for adults of all ages, will meet at the Library Wednesday, August 26 at 1:00 PM. The group will discuss Lisa Wingate’s bestselling novel, The Book of Lost Friends. 

Louisiana, 1875: In the tumultuous aftermath of Reconstruction, three young women set off as unwilling companions on a perilous quest: Lavinia, the pampered heir to a now-destitute plantation; Juneau Jane, her illegitimate free-born Creole half-sister; and Hannie, Lavinia's former slave. Each carries private wounds and powerful secrets as they head for Texas, following dangerous roads rife with ruthless vigilantes and soldiers still fighting a war lost a decade before. Phoenixville Public Library will host the AARP Smart Driver Refresher Class on Thursday, August 27 from 12:30 to 4:30 PM. The course offers participants an opportunity to learn how to drive more efficiently and safely. The course contains up-to-date information about changes in ourselves, our vehicles and our roads. Participants must have previously taken an 8-hour Smart Driver class in order to attend this refresher class. Cost is $20.00 for AARP members, $25.00 for non-members, payable by check or money order. This event is open to the public. Space is limited.
