3 Pittsburgh Youth Football League Coaches Barred For Life After In-Game Fight

PITTSBURGH, PA — Three youth league football coaches facing charges after becoming involved in an in-game fight last week apparently have been banned from the league for life.

The Steel City Youth Football League announced Friday that it had barred a trio of coaches from participating in the league ever again.

Though league officials did not identify the coaches, three of them were cited by police after engaging in a brawl during a game between Carlynton and Keysone Oaks being played between players who were between 8-9 years old.

Carnegie Police Chief Jeff Kennedy announced Thursday that Carlynton Little Cougars offensive coach DaQuay Canton of Crafton was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment. Keystone Oaks youth football team coaches Joseph Kubiak of Castle Shannon and Frank McGrath of Green Tree each were charged with disorderly conduct.

The league also dished out the following penalties related to the incident:

• The Carlynton and Keystone Oaks programs have been placed on probation for the rest of the season.

• Three coaches have been banned from coaching in the league for the remainder of the season.

• One person has been permanently banned from participating, coaching or attending all league events.

• Two people have been banned from attending league events for the rest of this season.

• Four-and-five week bans were given to two other people.

• One person has received a formal written warning from the league regarding Code of Conduct violations.

• One person will be addressed by their home organization.

"Moving forward, the (league) is firmly committed to ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all attendees and participants," league officials said in a social media post.

"To guarantee a secure environment, the league has ensured that a security personnel will be present at SCYFL events. Furthermore, we will continue working with our officiating crews and home organizations to foster a safe, positive environment dedicated to athletic and character development."
