Former Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Takes New Job

PITTSBURGH, PA — Mike Tomlin no longer coaches the Steelers, but you'll be able still see him on Sundays during the football season.
Tomlin, who stepped down from the job in January after 19 seasons after being just the third Steelers head coach since 1969, is going into broadcasting.
Tomlin will be joining NBC to be a studio analyst for the “Sunday Night Football” pregame show, “Football Night in America,” The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reported Tuesday.

Tomlin apparently will replace former Steelers player and Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy on the program. Dungy was let go from the program recently.
Tomlin, 54, had his team win Super Bowl XLIII in his second season as coach and never experienced a losing season.

But while leading the Steelers to the playoffs 13 times, Tomlin faced increasing criticism for failing to win a playoff game in the past nine years.
Tomlin was replaced by another Super Bowl-winning coach, former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys leader and Pittsburgh native Mike McCarthy.
