PITTSBURGH, PA — With Wegmans and Meijer stores on their way to Western Pennsylvania as competitors, Giant Eagle is implementing a new strategy to help draw shoppers into its Market District-branded stores.

The Cranberry-based supermarket chain is rolling out a new advertising campaign that sells Market District stores - more upscale versions of typical Giant Eagle locations - as supermarkets that focus on "artisanal, elevated culinary offerings."

The campaign slogan: "Discover Great Taste."

Moroch, the Dallas-based firm tasked with coming up with the new campaign, described Market District stores on its website as "The district of culinary inspiration."

"More than groceries, or a chore, or even the expected; Market District is an elevated destination composed of many experiences," the website stated.

"A perimeter of inspiring food experiences waiting to be discovered – fresh, vibrant produce, craft bakery, real butchers, culinary theater. And in the center, all the necessities for stocking up and gathering the goods to make your recipe dreams a reality."

The new campaign comes nearly a year after Giant Eagle unveiled a "Because It Matters" business strategy focused on overhauling its stores and focusing on better everyday value, better quality and service and a better overall shopping experience.
