Kennywood's Phantom Fall Fest Up For National Recognition

WEST MIFFLIN, PA — Phantom Fall Fest, Kennywood's annual day-to-night Halloween festival, once again has been nominated by USA Today as one of the county's 10 Best Theme Park Halloween Events.

The amusement park is asking for the public's help to land a spot in the top 10. People can cast their votes once daily from now through Sept. 21. Winners will be announced on Wednesday Sept. 30.

Kennywood is adding several new wrinkles to the fest this year. Visitors to the amusement park will have the opportunity to sample new food offerings at the festival. Additionally, children can visit a non-scary trick-or-treat area and older people can explore one of the park's dark rides on foot.

An all-new fall menu will be available around the lagoon and include specialty food such as a potato kielbasa skillet, smoked sausage mac and cheese, and maple cinnamon sweet potato fries, along with seasonal beers. Fall Fest tasting cards will be available for people to mix and match samples.

During the day, Kennywood's famed dark ride Ghostwood Estate will be open for trick-or-treating in which they can collect candy, meet not-so-spooky spirits and navigate the park's most haunted hideaway.

At night, older guests can abandon Ghostwood Estate's buggies and blasters and travel through the dark, winding halls of the ride on foot. Surprise scares will be in the offing.

Phantom Fall Fest will run on select days from Sept. 12 through Nov. 1. Visitors will be able to enjoy the park 6 p.m.-11 p.m. on Fridays, 12 p.m.-11 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 p.m. and 12 p.m.-1o p.m. on Sundays.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Phantom Fall Fest will feature family friendly activities from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Then the park turns spooky for older visitors.
