Prominent Pittsburgh Radio Personality To Retire

PITTSBURGH, PA — After more than three decades on the air, a veteran Pittsburgh radio show host has announced his retirement.

KDKA-AM's Chris Moore announced the decision during his talk show on Sunday. His final show will be Feb. 15.

Moore has been an on-air announcer since 1994.

According to the station, Moore has won multiple Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards during his other career as a producer and host at WQED-TV and was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Gold Circle Award last year for his over 50 years of “exemplary service.”

In 1972, Moore was first employed as a camera person for three years by KETS-TV in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. He has worked continuously in the field from KETC-TV in St. Louis, Missouri for five years as a Producer/Journalist, at KWMU-Radio as a street reporter, and as Producer/Host at WQED Pittsburgh since 1980. He worked for WPXI-TV for 10 years as a Television Host.

Moore is the founder and co-chairperson of the educational committee of the Frank Bolden Urban Journalism Workshop of the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation where a Chris Moore internship was named in his honor.
