1 Firefighter Injured, Apartment Building Evacuated In Whitemarsh Fire
The weekend blaze, which began in the middle of the night, remains under investigation by the fire marshal's office.
WHITEMARSH, PA — An apartment building was evacuated in Whitemarsh over the weekend after a significant fire in the middle of the night, authorities said. All residents escaped safely, though one firefighter was injured.
The incident occurred on the 400 block of Ridge Pike shortly after midnight on Sunday morning.
Light smoke was coming from the exterior of the three story building when police arrived.

Inside, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the interior of one of the apartments.
With the evacuation complete, crews traced the fire to a second floor laundry room and were able to quickly extinguish it.

The injured firefighter was treated on scene.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The Whitemarsh Township Fire Marshals Office is leading the investigation.
