Accidents, Rescues Accumulate with Saturday Snowfall

After snow began to fall at about 11 a.m. Saturday morning, accidents quickly began to accumulate on a Montgomery County Emergency Incidents webpage.

In Whitemarsh, a rescue was reportedly underway after a vehicle struck a light pole at the intersection of Butler Pike and Detweiler Lane at approximately 11:32 p.m. The vehicle was described as "leaning."

Around the same time, a second rescue was reported on Ridge Pike and Ash Lane, after a two-vehicle collision. A Montgomery County police radio monitoring service reported that one vehicle was sent over an embankment, trapping an occupant inside.

Accidents were also reported at Stenton Avenue and Mill Road, where a car apparently went into a ditch; Butler Pike and Morris Road, where two vehicles reportedly collided, with one also crashing into a pole; Germantown Pike and Aldan Road, where two vehicles left the roadway; Germantown Pike and Fairway Road; and Stenton Avenue and Flourtown Road.

In Plymouth, a vehicle reportedly crashed at Plymouth Road and Maplewood Drive at approximately 11:45 a.m. The incident was reported as requiring a response from the fire department, although the reason was not available. An accident was also reported near the intersection of Germantown Pike and Jolly Road at approximately 11:58 a.m., partially blocking traffic.

At approximately 12:11 p.m. an accident involving three or four vehicles was reported at the intersection of Germantown Pike and Mill Creek Road.

In Conshohocken, an accident was reported at Fayette Street and 7th Avenue at about 12:10 p.m., and a disabled Mazda 6 was apparently blocking traffic at East 1st Avenue near Fayette Street.
In total, 75 accidents had been reported across Montgomery County as of 12:15 p.m., 13 of which had reported injuries or required emergency response.
