Plymouth-Whitemarsh Among Schools Victimized By Swatting

The district and others around the area remain on alert Tuesday.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — Plymouth Whitemarsh High school was among several school districts around the region that fell victim to swatting hoaxes Monday, as law enforcement searches for answers to what has become an increasingly resource-draining issue.

Swatting, generally defined as an intentionally malicious prank call claiming some sort of emergency, draws massive response from emergency services and police to scenes where there is no actual threat.

Police investigated at Plymouth-Whitemarsh and determined the scene was safe.

The call originated in California, NBC Philadelphia reported.

Other swatting calls came in from Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties.

Schools remain on alert Tuesday with some noting an increased security presence.

No arrests have been announced. The FBI is working with local law enforcement on the investigation.
