Safety Alert Issued In Montgomery Co. Community After Child Luring Incident

Parents and the local school community have been put on alert.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Police issued a community safety alert in Conshohocken following what they called a "suspicious incident" at Conshohocken Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.

A child was walking home from school at around 4:30 p.m. when they were approached by a white SUV on the 100 block of East 3rd Avenue.

The driver tried to get the child inside the vehicle by offering a ride and candy, police said.

The child fled from the vehicle and returned safely home, where they notified their parents. Parents then told police and school officials.

No arrests have yet been made.

"This incident serves as an important reminder for families to review safety precautions with children," Conshohocken police shared.

Specifically, authorities say parents should urge children to:

  • Never accept rides, gifts, candy, or money from strangers
  • Stay alert and avoid distractions while walking home
  • Walk with friends or groups whenever possible
  • Immediately leave the area and seek help from a trusted adult if approached by someone suspicious
  • Memorize important phone numbers and safe locations along their route home

Police added that the public should continue to look out for children and each other.
