Whitemarsh Twp: Trick-or-Treat Whenever You Feel It's Safe

From Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors Chair Robert Hart:

“As we are working hard to recover from the devastations of the recent hurricane that hit our region leaving over three thousand Whitemarsh residents still without power, we find it important to keep an eye on the details of our community and be sure that Halloween is celebrated as a festive occasion even in the aftermath of such natural disasters. 

That is why we have designated Friday as an alternative date for the children of Whitemarsh Township to celebrate the joys and festivities of Halloween.  Neighborhoods that were fortunate enough not to be too adversely affected by the recent storm should go ahead and enjoy Halloween on the regularly scheduled date.  However, for the majority of us who are still without power and whose neighborhoods are not yet safe enough for children to walk around have the option to celebrate Halloween on Friday. 

The Township will open up the Township Parks & Recreation Building for families with children to stop by between 5 pm and 7 pm on Friday, November 2 where they can get candy and enjoy an extended Halloween Day this year.

The Township will not mandate a change of Halloween date but strongly encourage those whose neighborhoods are still without power and not safe enough for pedestrian travel to utilize Friday as a designated Halloween trick-or-treating day so that we can all still enjoy the fun and festivities of the day while our community recovers from the devastations of the recent storm.”
