Event Details

Pottsgrove Manor, 100 W King St, Pottstown, PA, 19464

How did doctors care for the sick and wounded during the American Revolution? Explore the world of Dr. Jonathan Potts through 18th-century plants and remedies. Learn about medicinal herbs, common wartime ailments, and the challenges of treating an army cut off from international trade.

Discuss the duties of a apothecary surgeon, visit the apothecary shop, and watch an interpreter compound medicines in the manor kitchen. In the kitchen garden, discover how herbs and other plants were used to fight the invisible enemy of Continental soldiers: disease. Visitors are also invited to enjoy a self-guided tour of the museum's first floor and a smallpox hospital.

Stop by the Warwick Furnace Farm lavender station & take home your own piece of herbal history while supplies last. *Outside activities will be scaled down in the event of rain.
