Summer is here, and the Pottstown area is packed with ways to enjoy the season. From outdoor gatherings and local markets to community festivals and family-friendly events, there's plenty happening close to home. Below are some events and activities to add to your calendar. 1. The MontCo Coffee & Chocolate Festival

When: Saturday, July 25; Session 1: 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m, Session 2: 2:30 p.m.–6 p.m.

The MontCo Coffe & Chocolate Festival offers a curated experience for caffeine and cocoa enthusiasts, showcasing some of the region’s best food and drink vendors. For $50 admission, guests can enjoy unlimited tastings of gourmet coffee, chocolate, wine and spirits, along with a meet-and-greet with four stars from ABC’s General Hospital.

2. Pottstown Play Streets

When: Thursdays, June 25, July 9, July 23, July 30; 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Where: Throughout Pottstown; see website for locations and directions

Each summer, the Pottstown Play Streets program transforms neighborhood streets into community hubs with free play equipment, activities, music and partner-led outreach. Events are held at various local streets and parks across the borough, including Prince Street, Cherry Street Park and more.

3. Ice Cream 5k & Kids Fun Run

When: Tuesday, August 25; 6:45 p.m.–8 p.m.

Where: Pottstown Riverfront Park | 140 College Dr, Pottstown

The Ice Cream 5k & Kids Fun Run, a part of the Tuesdays in the Park summer event series, brings together runners of all ages for a sweet treat and outdoor fun. The kids fun run is free and starts at 6:45 p.m.; registration is required for the 5k, which kicks off at 7 p.m. All runners get a free ice cream sandwich after the race, and all runners over 21 can grab a free beer from the Iron Gate Biergarten.

4. Pennsylvania Fig Festival

When: Saturday, August 29; 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Where: Althouse Arboretum (in the Halfway House) | 1794 Gilbertsville Rd, Pottstown

The Pennsylvania Fig Festival returns to the Althouse Arboretum, welcoming fig lovers and growers from all over the region. The event centers around food, fun and education, and there will be live trees for sale alongside other vendors. Donation is $10 per car.

5. Pottstown Nights

When: Saturdays, July 11, August 1, September 5; 3 p.m.–9 p.m.

Where: High St, Pottstown

Pottstown Nights is one of the largest free car shows in the region, with thousands of car enthusiasts heading to High Street for vehicle displays, local food vendors and live music. Registration is required for VIP parking/show cars, sponsors and vendors.

6. Pottstown FARM

When: Every other Saturday through October; 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Where: Smith Family Plaza | 100 E High St, Pottstown

For the past 11 years, Pottstown FARM has brought locally grown agricultural products and handmade artisan goods to the local community. The market also hosts a series of events through the season, including a “Christmas in July” celebration on July 25; keep an eye on the events calendar for the most up-to-date information.
