Set against the vibrant, aristocratic backdrop of early 20th-century New Orleans, this refreshed adaptation of Brandon Thomas’s timeless farce brings a Southern Gothic flair to the chaos of Charley’s Aunt.
Tulane graduate students Jack Duval and Charley Beauregard are desperate to propose to their sweethearts before their overbearing guardian whisks them away. Proper etiquette demands a respectable chaperone for the occasion, and the boys pin their hopes on the arrival of Charley’s wealthy aunt from Brazil, Madame Lucia d’Alvadorez.
When her travel is delayed, desperation leads to a high-stakes scheme: the boys "rope" their eccentric friend, Francois “Babbs” Babineaux, into donning a wig and a dress to play the part. What begins as a simple meeting quickly spirals into a whirlwind of mistaken identities and frantic narrow escapes, made even more complicated when the real Madame Lucia arrives incognito to watch the madness unfold.
