Delaware River Expected To Swell To 21 Feet Near Yardley Thursday
Recent rains have caused the river's waters to rise and Mayor Chris Harding said the river is expected to be higher than September's event.

YARDLEY, PA – The National Weather Service is predicting the Delaware River to produce flooding after heavy rains recently dumped several inches of rain on Bucks County in recent days.
But Yardley Mayor Chris Harding warned residents in a social media post on Tuesday that the river could swell to 21.3 feet by Thursday afternoon. The mayor said For reference sake, the recent September 2021 high water event that hit the area was at 20.6 feet.
Lower Makefield Township Police issued an alert Wednesday stating that by 8 p.m. Wednesday, the Delaware River is expected to exceed its banks and River Road. will become flooded in several areas.

This flooding condition is expected to last between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday. Police said that all residents should to use extreme caution and avoiding driving on River Road. Police officials said that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation stands ready to place barricades at problem locations along River Road.
Police will be evaluating the situation and if necessary, will close the roadway.

After two days of sunshine Wednesday and Thursday, more rain is expected for the area this weekend with chances of precipitation Friday, Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Weather officials said more flooding may occur this weekend.

In his social media post Tuesday, Harding encouraged Yardley residents to take the necessary precautions, and continue to monitor social media for further updates, announcements and/or police activity.
