LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The first show of the year for the AOY Art Center will feature the “emerging artists" of Lower Bucks high schools.

Students are featured from Truman High School in Bristol Township, Council Rock North and South High Schools, the George School, and Neshaminy, and Pennsbury high schools.

This unprecedented exhibition is the third year that Lower Bucks County High Schools have come together to showcase their artistic talents at AOY Art Center, Executive Director Bette Sovinee said.

The “Emerging Artists” concept has evolved into a fully engaged community of young artists from the six Lower Bucks High Schools listed above.

Along with these schools' participation, the EA Committee chairpersons, Anne Gannon and Renee Egan, have welcomed accomplished artists and business owners, Elaine Morales, Andie Olson, and Rich Fekete to the EA Committee — each of whom has brought new energy and technology to AOY Art Center's mission of honoring Bucks County's young talent.

The exhibit is also a competition where students vie for cash and other awards in recognition
of outstanding achievement.

The recipients of these awards will be determined by the Jurors, adding an element of prestige and recognition to the talents on display. This year, the awards will recognize 2D and 3D categories and two new categories–photography and computer graphics.

Two additional awards have been added in honor and memory of the Fran and Chris Leyenberger family and the Marc Schimsky family, both of whom were enthusiastic about student art education.

The recipients of these new awards will be determined by family representatives. Additionally, U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will recognize each winner with a U.S. flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol.
